Type images:

Original description: Dicarinella elata Lamolda 1977: Test trochospiral; ventral side strongly convex; spiral side flat to slightly convex. Sixteen to eighteen chambers arranged in 2.5 to 3 whorls; six to seven chambers in outer whorl. Equatorial periphery lobulate; axial periphery sharp. Single beaded keel with double row of pustules, at least in early chambers of outer whorl as in Marginotruncana sigali (Reichel) [Globotruncana (Globotruncana) sigali, 1950]; double keel in preceding whorl. Sutures on spiral side raised, beaded and curved, outlining semicircular chambers; sutures on ventral side radial and depressed, lying between subtriangular inflated chambers. Primary aperture interiomarginal, extraumbilical-umbilical in position. Umbilicus large, its diameter 1/3 of diameter of test or more, covered by portici in well-preserved specimens. Test smooth, except that early chambers of outer whorl are rugose umbilically. Wall perforate, except for keel and raised sutures, which are imperforate.

Geological Range:
Last occurrence (top): within D. concavata zone (86.71-89.91Ma, top in Coniacian stage). Data source: [copied from Chronos database]
First occurrence (base): within H. helvetica zone (92.56-93.52Ma, base in Turonian stage). Data source: [copied from Chronos database]

Plot of occurrence data:

NB Plotting of Neptune data has been disabled on the Mesozoic pages because the dataset is both small and badly affected by a few sites with erroneous age models (our obs Huber, Petrizzo, Young, Nov 2016). The data can still be viewed via the range plottertool - tools menu.
