Original Description: Test small, trochoid in the early stage at least in the microspheric form, planispiral and involute; chambers in the early stage globular, in the adult stage the last-formed chambers are flattened and the last one is globular, in the adult stage the last-formed chambers are flattened and the last one is divided into two globular chambers, one on each side of the plane of coiling; sutures distinct, depressed; wall calcareous, perforate, with tiny short spines on the exterior; aperture consisting of a low slit-like arch at the base of each of the last chambers, usually quite indistinct.
Extra details from original publication: Discussion. The most interesting character of this genus is the development of the paired chambers, one on each side of the
plane of coiling in the adult growth stage. The last chamber becomes broad and flattened before dividing along the plane of coiling into two chambers. In most specimens which have reached the adult growth stage, there is only one pair of chambers, but the next to the last chamber is usually partially divided, and the others near the end are broad and somewhat flattened.
